What This Course Covers
This course teaches students how to recognize and respond to common pediatric emergencies until professional help arrives. Students will learn and practice:
Child & Infant CPR
AED use for children and infants
Choking relief for children and infants
Pediatric First Aid basics
Bleeding control & bandaging
Allergic reactions & EpiPen usage
Breathing emergencies
Burns, bites & stings
Injury & illness response
Emergency response confidence and scene safety
Online Course Requirement
This is a blended learning course. Students must complete the required American Heart Association online course before attending the in-person skills session.
The participant’s email address entered during registration will be used to assign the online course and issue the AHA certification eCard upon successful completion.

Certification Cards (eCards)
Participants who successfully complete both the online portion and in-person skills session will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card valid for two years.
Certification eCards are typically issued after successful course completion and once all required paperwork and payment have been received.
Important Information for Parents
This course is designed for babysitters, teens, camp counselors, and young caregivers interested in learning pediatric CPR, AED, choking relief, and First Aid skills in a structured hands-on learning environment.
This is a blended learning course that includes a required online portion followed by an in-person skills session. The online course must be completed before attending the in-person skills session.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for kneeling and participating in hands-on CPR skills practice. Students will practice skills using child and infant CPR manikins and AED trainers.
A parent or guardian must register participants under 18 years old and remain reachable by phone for the duration of class. Parents are responsible for timely drop-off and pickup arrangements.
To help protect the privacy and comfort of all participants, students are not permitted to photograph, video record, or audio record during the in-person skills session.
This course is conducted in a respectful group learning environment. Smooth Bore CPR & First Aid reserves the right to remove disruptive or unsafe participants if necessary.
Participants who successfully complete both the online portion and in-person skills session, including required skills testing, will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification card valid for two years.
FAQ
Is this an official certification course?
Yes. This course uses the American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED curriculum and results in an official AHA course completion card valid for two years.
Does the online course need to be completed before class?
Yes. The required online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person skills session.
How long is the in-person skills session?
The hands-on skills session is approximately 60–90 minutes depending on class size and pacing.
What should students bring?
Students should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for kneeling and participating in hands-on CPR skills practice. Bringing water and something to take notes with is recommended.
Do parents stay during class?
Parents are not required to remain in the classroom during group sessions; however, a parent or guardian must remain reachable by phone for the duration of class.
If only one student is enrolled in a session, a parent or guardian may be required to remain onsite during the skills session. Parents will be notified ahead of time if this applies.
Will students practice skills during class?
Yes. This course includes hands-on practice and skills testing using child and infant CPR manikins, AED trainers, and choking relief practice.
What if a student has physical limitations or medical concerns?
Please contact us before class to discuss any injuries, medical conditions, allergies, physical limitations, or accommodations that may affect participation in hands-on skills practice.
How the Course Works
1. Complete the Online Course
After registration, students will receive access to the required American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED online course. The online portion must be completed before attending the in-person skills session.
2. Attend the Hands-On Skills Session
Students will attend an in-person instructor-led skills session to practice pediatric CPR, AED use, choking relief, and First Aid skills using child and infant training manikins.
3. Receive AHA Certification
Participants who successfully complete both the online portion and in-person skills session, including required skills testing, will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification card valid for two years.
